Seattle Seahawks coach, NFL commissioner to scale Mt. Rainier

July 7th, 2009 by chelsea

Seahawks Coach Jim Mora works tirelessly to take his team to new heights. Now he’ll have to push himself to reach Mt. Rainier’s 14,411-foot summit.

Mora, along with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, will battle wind and fog to scale the volcano tomorrow morning, according to an article in the Seattle Post Intelligencer. Each year, roughly half of those who attempt to reach the top actually make it, the article said.

But they’re prepared. Yesterday the duo spent about five hours on the mountain training. “Gotta say the commish performed. He is a good listener and grasped mountaineering basics reasonably well,” guide Peter Whittaker said.

Men, your fellow Seahawks send you a supportive “caw!”

Seattle says its goodbyes to Mike Holmgren.

December 24th, 2008 by admin

A part of Seattle is headed for warmer weather this Sunday as Mike Holmgren and the Seattle Seahawks travel to Arizona for Holmgren’s NFL-coaching finale.

After 10 seasons as the Seahwaks’ coach, Holmgren — an architect of the West Coast offense who led Seattle to five division titles — said he’ll take some time to “reflect” on this being his last week, according to an article by Jose Miguel Romero in The Seattle Times.

The one-time history teacher and USC quarterback defeated Brett Favre and the Jets in Holmgren’s last game at Qwest Field and, in the process, raised $46,000 to help refugees in the Republic of Congo through fan donations.

Holmgren leaves the game as the 10th-winningiest coach in NFL history — after Joe Gibbs.
